EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM LEADER

     
Founded in 1933, the International Rescue Committee is a prominent international organization working in relief, rehabilitation, protection, post-conflict development, resettlement services and advocacy for those uprooted or affected by violent conflict and oppression.
SCOPE OF WORK: Under the supervision of the IRC Tanzania Country Director, the Emergency Response Team Leader will provide strategic direction, leadership and oversight to all emergency operations for Burundian refugee at Kagunga Island, Kigoma and Kasulu. The Emergency Response Team Leader will be based in Kigoma.
The Emergency Response Team Leader will:
  • Lead implementation of various current and forthcoming projects serving Burundian refugees
  • Work with the Country Director to determine additional initiatives addressing urgent humanitarian needs - identify potential donors, guide the development of proposals, and oversee activities when they are funded.
  • Contribute to country program leadership as a member of the Senior Management Team.
  • Provide guidance and supervision to all direct reports, including technical support visits.
  • Promote accountable implementation of refugee response programming by paying particular attention to grant management and monitoring and evaluation systems.
  • Represent IRC's emergency programming to donors, UN agencies, INGOs, and government officials.
  • Participate in inter-sectoral coordination meetings as required, or delegate as appropriate.
  • Oversee compilation, review and on-time submission of situation and donor reports, ensuring that all reports are informative, well written and compliant with award requirements.
  • Oversee the development of competitive, responsive proposals for refugee assistance activities - log frames, narratives and budgets.
  • Ensure compliance to security, procurement, HR and financial management protocols.
PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS
  • All IRC staff are required to adhere to THE IRC Way Standards for Professional Conduct and the IRC country employment policies.
Requirements :
· Experience coordinating humanitarian emergency situations
· Ability to multi task and work under tight schedules and deadlines
· Background in Health, WASH or Shelter
· Familiarity with refugee contexts
· Masters in relevant field
