NURSE

   Background:

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is an International Nongovernmental Organization that responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. In Tanzania, IRC supporting refugee program in Kigoma Region. Currently the service is provided in Nyarugusu refugee camp in Kasulu District and at a Transit Centre in Kigoma town. At the Transit Centre, IRC support refugees and asylum seekers, support included Camp Management, Health care management and treatment, Child Protection, Community-based Rehabilitation (care for disabled), Vulnerable Care, Youth and Development and Gender-Based Violence. The International Rescue Committee (IRC) now seeks an experienced Community Service Manager to provide technical leadership and implementation for the Tanzania Program at Transit center in Kigoma Town.
IRC seeks to recruit qualified, energetic and committed candidates to fill the following position:
Position:                       Nurse (Midwife)
Location:                      Kigoma, Tanzania
Reporting to:                Clinical Officer In charge

Key responsibilities
  1. Controls  nursing activities/services in the health/ transit center dealing with curative services
  2. Handle emergency cases accordingly.
  3. Give nursing care and treatments to patients according to plan
  4. Keep records of patients and drug consumption.
  5. Identify refugee  patients’ or accompanying caretakers’ problems and meet their needs
  6. Administer medicines and treatments ordered and observe any reaction.
  7. Escort refugees from the transit centre to refugee camp
  8. Give Health Education to patients, relatives and either individually or in groups according to their needs
  9. Participates in clinical teaching to other staff in the Health Unit.
  10. Conducts health education in the Health Unit to admitted patents/caretakers and other refugees in mass in the transit center, reception centers.
Qualification Qualifications
Form IV Certificate with Diploma in Nursing/Midwifery or equivalent qualification and working experience in a refugee setting.
