DISTRICT COORDINATOR, IRAMBA

  
Title:District Coordinator
WorkStation:Iramba District
Reportsto:Head of Field Office
Objective:Tocontribute to the realization of the organizations objectives bycoordinating and facilitating implementation of Sikika’s AWPactivities in the district”.

Responsibilities:

1. Coordinating Social Accountability Monitoring (SAM) activities at District, ward and facility level

  • Working closely with office of the District Commissioner and District Council to ensure smooth implementation of SAM activities in the district.
  • Coordinating and supervising activities of SAM team in the district especially those related to Health and HIV/AIDS at district and facility level.
  • Organize / attend periodic meetings at community level to mobilize citizens and raise their awareness on accountability issues
  • Attend all Full Council meetings to track commitments and decisions made for monitoring of SAM district action plan
  • Promptly share with respective departments issues that come up during the implementation / monitoring of activities in the district
  • Conduct official and informal meetings with Ward Executive Officers (WEOs), Community Development Officers (CDOs), Village Executive Officers (VEOs) and Facility management committees and Multi-sectoral HIV & AIDS committees on accountability in the health sector
  • Encourage dialogue on health related issues between citizens and their leaders at village and ward level
  • Encourage participation of religious leaders, political leaders, opinion leaders, disadvantaged groups such as people with disability, people 




  • 2. Implement Sikika departments’ specific activities in your district. These will include:
    • living with HIV/AIDS in all activities aimed at promoting accountability at local level
    • Drafting and sharing progress made to head of Field Office on weekly, monthly and quarterly basis
    • Prepares Singida rural reports with a clear alignment to our work plans and strategic plan.
  • Making follow up on reported cases of misconducts / unethical behaviors of health workers at facility level
  • Promoting community monitoring of health and HIV&AIDS services with focus on availability of medicines and supplies (including CD4 count machine), budget information and the importance of using existing complaint mechanisms
  • Distribute Sikika publications and track how such publications support citizens in understanding critical issues and how such information enables them to take actions
  • Contribute to Sikika’s quarterly newsletter by sending stories, best experiences and lessons from the field



3. Joint Advocacy and relationship with other actors 

  • Foster a good working relationship with Office of the District Commissioner (DC) and LGA (DED, DMO, DACC, CHAC) and head of health facilities by having periodic consultations and feedback meetings
  • Coordinate with other CSOs in the district in organizing experience sharing sessions on health at district level with the purpose of drawing lessons for advocacy work
  • Under guidance and in consultation with Head of Field Office in Dodoma, represent Sikika in all stakeholders meetings at district level


Required Qualifications
Education
A Bachelor Degree or higher degree in any Social science discipline.

Work Experience

A minimum of 2 years working experience in rural areas (Kiteto & Manyara areas preferred).

Key Skills and Abilities
The Jobholder must be fluent in both oral and written Swahili & English, possess reasonable skills in coordination, research, experience in analyzing written works
