Background:
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is an International Nongovernmental Organization that responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. In Tanzania, IRC supporting refugee program in Kigoma Region. Currently the service is provided in Nyarugusu refugee camp in Kasulu District and at a Transit Centre in Kigoma town. At the Transit Centre, IRC support refugees and asylum seekers, support included Camp Management, Health care management and treatment, Child Protection, Community-based Rehabilitation (care for disabled), Vulnerable Care, Youth and Development and Gender-Based Violence. The International Rescue Committee (IRC) now seeks an experienced Community Service Manager to provide technical leadership and implementation for the Tanzania Program at Transit center in Kigoma Town.
IRC seeks to recruit qualified, energetic and committed candidates to fill the following position:
Position: Clinical Officer
Location: Kigoma, Tanzania
Reporting to: Clinical Officer In charge
Key responsibilities
a. Controls all medical services at OPD, IPD dealing with curative and preventive services.
b. Ensures that all patients are treated appropriately and in accordance to treatment regimen (Protocol).Consults the Clinical Officer in charge in the evaluation and management of complicated cases.
c. In carrying out treatments and procedures educates and counsels patients and or relatives in a confidential environment.
d. Ensure medical and nutrition screening of refugees at the transit centre; screen the new arrivals and those on the list of people with special needs for further support.
e. Evaluates refugees’ fitness to travel and reports to Clinical officer in charge for way forward.
f. Collects, compiles statistics and Health information for initial analysis at reception center and onwards to submit to Clinical Offer In-Charge and points out any plays leading role community diagnosis investigation of outbreaks; epidemic control, planning and implementation.
g. Conducts Health Education at the transit centre and in marine vessels.
a. Works with other agencies or government through Ministry of Health to carry out Health campaigns e.g. Represents the Clinical Officer in Charge when requested at health related committees or meetings and refer/reports after.
Qualification Qualifications
Diploma in Clinical Medicine with experience in managing Health Centre, working in a refugee setting will be an added advantage
