ASSISTANT PROGRAM OFFICER

Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is an agency of the 'Government of Japan responsible for implementing Japan's Official Development Assistance (ODA). To adequately fulfill its objectives and in line with the expansion of its activities in the' country,
JICA is now inviting applications from suitably qualified and self - motivated Tanzanians of high personal integrity to apply for the following position:

'ASSISTANT PROGRAM OFFICER (PROGRAM SECTION)
Background of the position:

The position is a very exciting one for those who are seeking an opportunity of working at a donor agency and experiencing development cooperation activities. At the beginning the recruited staff will be expected to cover a wide range of tasks ranging from logistic to substantial ones. After obtaining necessary practical experience the staff will be expected to play a key role as the "relationship manager" between JICA and key stakeholders of the
Tanzanian side through creating favorable environment for the JICA projects and updating
(i) policy and institutional issues
(ii) hot issues in the Tanzanian Government and in the development-cooperation community (iii) human assets and maintenance, and (iv) the situation of the assets produced by on-going and completed JICA projects.

Specific duties and responsibilities:
Under the direct and overall supervision of the Senior Representative and in collaboration with the Representative in charge of public social service delivery (e.q, water, health, and local governance, etc.) the incumbent will be expected to perform the following activities:

Information collection, analysis and sharing among stakeholders
To collect and analyze public policy, public social service delivery sector related information that includes water supply and sanitation, local governance related activities of various development partners, policy and regulations, latest news of water supply and sanitation, local governance related sector development in Tanzania and neighboring countries.

To share the collected and analyzed information with the relevant stakeholders through appropriate channels.

Management of on-going projects, formulation of new projects and follow-up of completed projects
To conduct monitoring and evaluation of on-going
projects in collaboration with project experts and
Tanzanian counterparts.
To support the formulation of future cooperation in accordance with Japan's assistance strategy in Tanzania
To follow-up the situation of completed projects when necessary.
To support missions coming from Japan for the activities (1) - (3) above from both substantial and logistic aspects.
Common tasks
To go out for business trips in relation to the above
mentioned tasks.
To attend meetings with project related experts,
private enterprises, research institutions or
governmental organizations to engage in exchange of opinions and information.
To support Public Relations activities of Japanese
assistance in water supply and sanitation, local
governance related sector.

To translate Kiswahili documents in English-and vice versa when information sharing is necessary.

Others
To perform any other duties as may be assigned by JICA from time to time.

1.Necessary background: Governance, public policy, economic development, public service delivery
Academic qualifications: Bachelor degree in the above mentioned fields
Working experience: more than five years (excluding self- employment period, if any
