1.  PARK ECOLOGISTS GRADE II (2 POSTS)

Reporting Relationship: Report to Respective Chief Park Wardens
Duty Station: National Parks
(i)           Direct Entry Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Wildlife Management or Zoology & Wildlife Ecology, from a recognized training institution. Must be computer literate.
(ii)       Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Collecting, analysing and interpreting ecological data;
  • Conducting ecological researches;
  • Monitoring of effects of tourism activities and infrastructure development on the ecology of the park;
  • Supervising junior staff in animal and biodiversity data collection;
  • Liaising with veterinary officers in monitoring diseases;
  • Participating in research being conducted by external researchers;
  • Assisting in Environmental Impact Assessment and SEA;
  • Participating in the preparation and implementation of Fire Management Plan;
  • Participating in the implementation of Programmatic Environmental Assessment (PEA) for roads improvement;
  • Participating in wildfire suppression in the Parks;
  • Participating in animal census and bird counts;
  • Controlling pollution and exotic species (flora and fauna);
  • Participating in GMP / EIA formulation/preparation; and
  • Any other relevant duties as assigned by superior

2. PARK WARDEN GRADE II (2 POSTS)

Reporting Relationship: Report to Respective Chief Park Wardens
Duty Station: National Parks
(i)        Direct Entry Qualifications:
Bachelor Degree in Wildlife Management, or Zoology and Wildlife Ecology from a recognized training institution.  Must be computer literate.
      

(ii)       Duties and Responsibilities
  •  Responsible for organizing and carrying out daily anti-poaching patrols;
  •  Identifying and solving common and persistent problems in the guard stations, section or department;
  •  Preparing daily, weekly and monthly work plans, carrying out performance evaluation and reporting on the same;
  • Collaborating and sensitizing stake holders on environmental conservation issues and building good relationships between them and the park;
  • Liaising with Local Authorities on parks management and socio-economic development;
  • May represent the Park Manager in development, security, conservation, conflict resolution meetings at various levels;
  •  Participating and collaborating with the local communities in village development in identifying conservation friendly income generating activities;
  • Facilitating the establishment of schools’ wildlife clubs and village environmental committees and organizing their functioning;
  • Preparing and presenting evidence before the courts of law for issues pertaining to poaching or banditry within the park;
  • Prosecuting poaching cases before the courts of law;
  • Participating in enforcement, review and formulation of strategies for implementing National Parks Act and its Regulations;
  • coordinating and implementing approved tourism management activities within the park;
  • Conducting proactive park and boundaries surveillance; and
  • Any other relevant duties as may be assigned by superior.

3. CLINICAL OFFICER II (2 POSTS)

Reporting Relationship: Report to Respective Chief Park Wardens
Duty Station: National Parks
Direct Entry Qualifications:
Holder of Diploma in Clinical Medicine from a recognized institution. Must be computer literate.
Experience:
At least two years working experience as a Clinical Officer.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ordering and safe-keeping of medicine and first aid equipment;
  • Diagnosing and treating common illness;
  • Preparing budget for dispensary services;
  • Providing preventive and curative services;
  • Providing primary health care services;
  • Educating the community on health issues;
  • Participating in ensuring cleanliness of the staff living premises;
  • Ensuring proper MCH services are available in the park;
  • In charge of dispensary in parks;
  • Referring patients to district, regional and referral hospitals, as may be required; and
  • Performing other relevant duties as may be assigned by superior.
(iii)     Age limit: Not above 35 years of age

4. DRIVERS (6 POSTS)

Reporting Relationship: Report to Human Resource and Administrative Officer
Duty Station: National Parks
(i)        Direct Entry Qualifications: 
Holder of Form IV Certificate with passes in English and Kiswahili with class ‘C’ driving license and ‘Trade Test’ Grade III or above in Motor Vehicle Mechanics.
(ii)       Experience:
At least three years driving experience as class “C” driving licence
holder.
(iii)      Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Driving passenger vehicles, pick-ups and lorries 
  • Maintaining vehicle logbook and movement records;
  • Undertaking minor maintenance of vehicles;
  • Making regular checks of vehicles and other machinery to ensure cleanliness and serviceability.
  • Running errands
  • Performing other related duties assigned by a superior

5.   ACCOUNTS TECHNICIAN (2 POSTS)

Reporting Relationship: Report to Accountant
Duty Station: National Parks
Direct Entry Qualifications:
Holder of NBAA Accounts Technician Certificate (ATEC). Candidate must be computer literate.
(ii)     Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintaining revenue and visitor statistics;
  • Undertaking Revenue collection and maintaining their daily and monthly summaries;
  • Preparing payment vouchers;
  • Making various authorised payments;
  • Preparing of revenue schedules for money collected by appointed officers responsible for banking;
  • Preparing of various Accounts summaries and schedules; and
  • Performing other related duties assigned by a superior.
(iv)      Age limit: Not above 35 years of age
(v)       Salary scale:  TNPSS C

6.  PROCUREMENT AND SUPPLIES TECHNICIAN GRADE II (8 POSTS)

Reporting Relationship: Report to Procurement and Supplies Officer

Duty Station: National Parks
(i)        Direct Entry Qualification:
Holder of Form IV/VI with Certificate in Procurement and Supplies Management or Foundation stage II issued by the Procurement and Supplies Professionals and Technician Board (PSPTB). Must be computer literate.
(ii)       Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintaining Stores Ledger;
  • Keeping stock record and bin cards;
  • Participating in receiving and issuing goods;
  • Preparing and maintaining procurement ledger;
  • Maintaining fixed assets ledger;
  • Ensuring safety and cleanliness of stores; and
  • Performing other related duties assigned by a superior.
(iii)      Age limit: Not above 35 years of age
(iv)      Salary scale:  TNPSS C

7.  SENIOR LIBRARY ASSISTANT (1 POST)

Reporting Relationship: Report to Administrative Manager
Duty Station: TANAPA Headquarters
Direct Entry Qualifications:
Holder of Ordinary Diploma in Librarianship from School of Library, Archive and Documentation Studies (SLADS) or equivalent qualification from any recognized institution and must be computer literate.
(ii)       Experience:
At least five years working experience.
(iii)      Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Organizing documents;
    • Abstracting and indexing of periodicals/Journals;
    • Assisting users for reference and bibliography;
    • Preparing procedures and regulations on book borrowing;
    • Cataloguing and classifying books and other documents;
    • Carrying out researches on various publications;
    • Sorting and ordering books and journals;
    • Entering Library data in computer.
    • Searching Internet for sources of information;
    • Performing user surveys selective dissemination of information;
    • Devising data base for the library; and
    • Performing any other related duties as assigned by Supervisor

8.  NURSE/NURSE MIDWIFE (4 POSTS)

Reporting Relationship: Report to Assistant Medical Officer
Duty Station: National Parks
(i)        Direct Entry Qualifications:
Holder of Form IV certificate with a certificate in nursing and enrolled by the Tanzania Nurses and Midwives Council. Must be computer literate.
(ii)       Experience:
At least three years working experience with outstanding performance and good conduct in the field.
  • Providing nursing care to patients;
  • Giving educational health on family planning and safe motherhood to the community;
  • Conducting maternal child health (MCH) care and family planning services in the community;
  • Administering drugs and other treatment prescribed by Clinical/Assistant Medical Officer;
  • Performing other relevant duties as may be assigned by Superior;
            (iv)   Age limit: Not above 35 years of age

9.    PARK RANGERS GRADE IV (77 POSTS)

Reporting Relationship: Report to Park Wardens / Heads of Protection Department in the Respective Parks
Duty Station: National Parks
(i)        Qualifications:
Form IV Certificate with Basic Certificate in Wildlife Conservation from Pasiansi Wildlife Conservation Training Institute. Candidates with Certificate in basic military training from the National Service will be considered for recruitment after a successful completion of a three months field training conducted by TANAPA. 
(iii)      Duties and Responsibilities:
• Conducting patrol activities
• Providing guard services in the Park
• Receiving and sending radio messages during patrols
• Undertaking cleaning functions at the ranger posts
• Arresting offenders
• Attending cases/court hearings, giving evidence in wildlife
cases
• Participating in early fire burning and suppression activities
• Collecting information on unusual events and monitoring activities
• Writing patrol reports
• Participating in rescue operations.
(iv)      Age limit: Not above 25 years of age
(v)       Salary Scale: TANAPA 01

10.  VETERINARY OFFICER (1 POST)

Reporting Relationship:    Manager Ecological Monitoring
Duty Station: TANAPA Headquarters        
(i)        Direct Entry Qualifications:
Bachelor Degree in Veterinary Medicine from a recognized Institution. Must be computer literate.
(ii)       Experience:
At least two years satisfactory experience in the related field.
(iii)      Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Establishing a reliable and sustainable reporting and recording system of field cases.
  • Investigating and monitoring disease outbreaks affecting wildlife in the ecosystem.
  • Overseeing research related to wildlife diseases in the ecosystem.
  • Conducting intervention and rescue of sick, injured or snared wildlife;
  • Providing veterinary expertise and supervising authorized research scientists on animal handling, immobilization and sampling;
  • Collaborating with the Community Conservation Services and neighbouring Veterinary Department in offering services to local communities;
  • Conducting lectures, seminars and workshops to organized groups;
  • Participating in planning and budgeting for veterinary activities.
  • Preparing veterinary reports on all cases and operations attended as well as collecting and analyzing field data for publication; and
  • Performing any other duties related to the field as may be assigned by superior
(iv)  Age limit: Not above 35 years of age
(v)      Salary scale:  TNPSS F

11.   PLANNING OFFICER (M&E) GRADE 1 (1 POST)

Reporting Relationship: Head Monitoring and Evaluation Unit
Duty Station: TANAPA Headquarters 
(i)     Direct Entry Qualifications:
Bachelor Degree in Economics, Natural resources Management, Land Use Planning or Economics Planning. Must be computer literate.
Postgraduate in M&E will be an added advantage.
(ii)       Experience:
At least three years working experience with outstanding performance and good conduct in the field.
Three years experience on using M&E Management Information System will an added advantage.
  • Duties and Responsibilities           
  • Monitoring and Evaluating the implementation of GMPs/EIAs and CSP;
  • Participating in preparation of maps for the planning purposes;
  • Evaluating investment and project proposals (cost and benefit analysis);
  • Participating in preparation of organisational budgets;
  • Participating in planning workshops and writing up GMPs/EIAs;
  • Participating in preparation of GMPs/EIAs and CSP;
  • Monitoring and Evaluating the implementation of GMPs/EIAs and CSP;
  • Participating in preparation of EIAs for all developments in the parks;
  • Preparing site plans for park projects;
  • Collecting and analysing data for planning purposes; and
  • Performing any other related duties assigned by the superior.

12.  IT/SYSTEMS ANALYST (1 POST)

Reporting Relationship: Head of ICT Unit
Duty Station: Tanzania National Parks
           
(i)        Direct Entry Qualifications:
Bachelor Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.
Knowledge and experience on working with Integrated Financial/Human Resources & Payroll / M&E Management Information Systems, Understanding of JAVA/C++/PHP programming language will be an added an advantage.
(ii)       Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Administering database and network;
  • Documenting present technical procedures, operating method and new systems
  • Scheduling, upgrading and securing backups of hardware, database and software systems;
  • Monitoring and testing backup procedures;
  • Installing, supporting and maintaining existing and new hardware and software infrastructure for computer systems and networks;
  • Researching and installing new systems, and ensuring that all ICT equipment comply with industrial standards;
  • Implementing software licensing laws and advising where necessary;
  • Implementing and monitoring data and network security from  internal and external attacks;
  • Advising Management on network issues;
  • Managing the TANAPA website;
  • Monitoring uses of resources by the staff, including use of intranet, websites and e-mails;
  • Ensuring the smooth running of ICT systems including anti-virus software, printing services and e-mail provision;
  • Ensuring secure access to networked remote users;
  • Proper handling of all classified information he/she has access to, and refraining from divulging the same to unauthorized persons;
  • Participating in the preparation of departmental annual budget and plans;
  • Preparing and submitting periodic reports; and
  • Performing any other duties assigned by superior.

13. LABORATORY TECHNOLOGISTS (2 POSTS)

Reporting Relationship: Report to Assistant Medical Officer/ Clinical
Officer in the Respective Parks
Duty Station: National Parks
 (i)       Direct Entry Qualifications:
Holder of Diploma in Laboratory Technology from a recognised institution. Must be computer literate.
 (ii)      Experience:
At least two years working experience in the related field.
(iii)      Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Keeping cleanliness and safety of laboratory supplies, reagents and equipment;
  • Preparing equipment and reagents for laboratory investigations;
  • Keeping record of on going experiments;
  • Performing laboratory investigations;
  • Preparation of reagents for laboratory investigations;
  • Collecting samples from the field;
  • Maintaining proper and up to date records of all samples; and
  • Performing any other related duties that may be assigned by superior.
(iv)  Age limit: Not above 35 years of age
 (v)      Salary Scale  TNPSS D
