Tanzania Geothermal Development Company Limited (TGDC) is a subsidiary company of the Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO) established in December 2013 and came into operation in July 2014 with a mandate to spearhead geothermal resources in Tanzania.

TGDC is mandated:
- To carry out geothermal exploration including geological, geochemistry, seismological, volcanological studies;
- To carry business in geothermal drilling for steam and hot water, well testing and logging, reservoir assessment and management;
- To mobilize funds for geothermal development from various sources;
- To promote geothermal business and developer of alternative uses of geothermal energy than electricity including watering cultures, therapeutic uses, geothermal bathing, drying of farm products and all industrial and non-industrial uses;

POSITION OBJECTIVE
To provide Information and Communications Technology (ICT) services to ensure the cost effective and availability of all ICT requirements consistent with TGDC’s business needs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops and implement company’s ICT strategy and policy relating to ICT matters and to ensure adherence to organizational policies;
- Develop, implement, monitor and control user support procedures to ensure that all user support problems are addressed timely and effectively;
- Develop, monitor and control database systems (including GIS based database) to ensure easy access and retrieval of database information;
- Manage LAN/WAN to ensure all workstations are connected;
- Monitor and control systems (sever administration, accounting systems, email system, Internet, HR system);
- Manage the implementation of ICT projects to ensure that deadlines, deliverables and objectives are realized;
- Studies, designs and assists in the installation of computer systems/programs;
- Advises on the strategic direction of key ICT resources including websites and information databases as per the Government of Tanzania guide lines;
- Ensures that the Company ICT systems are maintained securely
- Any other related duties as may be required from time to time.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree in ICT/Computer Engineering or related field;
- Five (5) years of working experience in ICT function in a reputable organization;
- Post graduate in relevant field will be an added advantage.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Knowledge and experience with networking environments, including LAN and WAN environments, use and management of firewalls, VPN, and dial-up and/or remote users
- Excellent knowledge on hardware configurations and maintenance;
- Pro-activeness, creativity, innovation, and team working;
- Problem-solving skills, ability to analyze a case or situation and recommend solutions
- Interpersonal and negotiation skills;
- Flexible and ability to work independently;
- Knowledge and experience in ICT Projects Management.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Permanent & Pensionable including six months of probation.
