PROJECT ACCOUNTANT - TANZANIA RED CROSS SOCIETY


Tanzania Red Cross Society (TRCS) is one of the largest humanitarian organizations in Tanzania.
Its mission is to be the leading humanitarian organization iri Tanzania, delivering excellent quality service of preventing and alleviating human suffering. TRCS is looking for a qualified person to fill the above position to support two of its projects - Integrated HIV/AIDS and Building Community Resilience in Geita Region. The two projects are supported by and implemented in close collaboration with American Red Cross. The position is full time based in TRCS Ushirombo township offices in Bukombe District of Geita region and will report to TRCS Finance and Development Manager based at the headquarters in Oar es Salaam.

The Project Accountant has accountability for financial and material assets of the two projects.
Specific duties and accountabilities: .
• Financial planning, budgeting, accounting and high quality & timely reporting for the
projects.
• Training, supporting and advising Project Staff in financial, budgeting and related
compliance matters.
• Managing project funds and material assets including cash flow, cost control, payments,
and payroll oversight.
• Advising Project managers and staff on financial matters including supporting work
planning, budgeting, cash forecasting, and analysis of budget spending.
• Ensuring compliance with internal control procedures, procurement, and asset
management.
• Supporting and coordinating Project audits as needed.

Qualifications and Expectations:
Bachelor of Commerce or related, majoring in Accounting, and
CPA (T) as an added value. At least five years professional work experience with humanitarian or
development agencies in finance or accounting role. Good knowledge of USAID rules and
regulations, and Tanzanian Government finance regulations. Demonstrate ability to develop
financial statements, accounting plans and to prepare financial reports. Must be fluent in English - and strong written and verbal communication skills. Good knowledge of manual accounting system
and advanced skills in computer spreadsheets and accounting packages - knowledge of NAVISION is highly desirable. He/She has to be flexible, willing to travel and have ability to achieve results through collaborative work.
