AREA FIELD FACILITATOR - MWANZA

MEDA Tanzania has 5 vacancies in its MMB Project team in the Lake Zone as well as Mkuranga, Rufiji and Mtwara areas to join a rewarding and fast-paced working environment in its Commercially sustainable, Quality assured Cassava Seed Distribution system project.
The Commercially sustainable, Quality assured Cassava Seed Distribution system is a pilot project which aims to test, document and promote commercially-sustainable supply chains for affordable, quality-assured cassava seed serving small farmers. This will be done through the testing of two commercially-based certified cassava seed multiplication supply chain models while attempting to establish these on a sustainable and commercially viable footing.

Area Field Facilitator 3 positions (Mwanza 1, Mkuranga 1 and Rufiji 1)
The Area Field Facilitator will be responsible for providing technical support of the Commercially Sustainable; Quality assured Cassava Seed
Distribution System in Tanzania project and will provide technical input on the implementation of the project in Tanzania in a manner consistent with MEDA's philosophy and development methodology. The Area Field Facilitator will provide technical support day to day with the Commercial Seed Multipliers in the project area
To set up and establish 1st and 2nd generation private certified seed producers. Provide technical and business training as needed to ensure the target levels of seed production are achieved.
To arrange commercially-based supply of seed down this chain and of growers and sale of certified seed to farmers.
To conduct promotion activities aimed at creating demand of certified seed by farmers
To monitor the activities of commercial seed grower to make sure they abide to the certification standards based on seed quality monitoring and QDS(Quaiity Declared Seed) certification protocol to be applied for branded 1 st and 2nd generation cassava seed multipliers
Carry out routine data collection to track performance against key performance Indicators and Dissemination of lesson learned from pilot testing to inform best practice.
Support the establishment of demonstration and training plots/sites Production and dissemination of training manuals, Linking farmers to seed markets and develop market demands)

Requirements:
A Diploma or Bachelors' degree in a relevant subject e.g. Agronomy, Aqriculture general
A Minimum of 4 years professional experience of working with Research, agri-business, marketing and farmer organizations in East Africa.
Knowledge & practical experience of Cassava agronomy, Research, Plant protections, Value Chain Development
Good command of spoken and written English; knowledge of one or more of the local languages (Mwanza, Rufiji, Mkuranga) would be an asset.
Good communication/social skills; Good familiarity with the area the project/program is situated Knowledge of and experience of working with farmers
Good knowledge about improved technologies in cassava Agronomy
