Water Resources Engineer - SMEC Tanzania

The role
We are currently seeking a Water Resources Engineer. This position supports the Water Group’s business development activities in Africa and also supports project delivery and management.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support project delivery by providing technical and project management inputs as needed
  • Participate in the group’s business development strategizing, planning ,and management
  • Review Request for Proposals and develop winning strategies and plans in consultation with Management
  • Prepare and write high quality winning technical proposals for water, environment, and agricultural projects in Africa Region
  • Coordinate and manage the work of other staff members
  • Support the preparation of financial proposals as needed
  • Support the building of capacity of local and regional staff
  • Review project reports and edit/format/improve the presentation and report quality as needed
Key Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in water resources, water supply, irrigation, or agricultural engineering. Masters degree is preferred.
  • At least 5 years overall experience and at least 2 years of experience with planning and implementation of international development and engineering projects in developing countries.
  • Strong technical knowledge in water, environment, or agricultural infrastructure planning/development/management and excellent desktop research skills to fill knowledge gaps
  • Excellent technical writing skills (mandatory)
  • Excellent English language skills (mandatory)
  • Proficient in use of computer software (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, etc) to produce professional looking documents of international standards
  • Able to work with a multi-disciplinary multi-cultural team
  • Able to deliver work within tight deadlines and handle heavier work pressure near deadlines
