The role
We are currently seeking a Water Resources Engineer. This position supports the Water Group’s business development activities in Africa and also supports project delivery and management.
Key Responsibilities
- Support project delivery by providing technical and project management inputs as needed
- Participate in the group’s business development strategizing, planning ,and management
- Review Request for Proposals and develop winning strategies and plans in consultation with Management
- Prepare and write high quality winning technical proposals for water, environment, and agricultural projects in Africa Region
- Coordinate and manage the work of other staff members
- Support the preparation of financial proposals as needed
- Support the building of capacity of local and regional staff
- Review project reports and edit/format/improve the presentation and report quality as needed
Key Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- At least a Bachelor’s degree in water resources, water supply, irrigation, or agricultural engineering. Masters degree is preferred.
- At least 5 years overall experience and at least 2 years of experience with planning and implementation of international development and engineering projects in developing countries.
- Strong technical knowledge in water, environment, or agricultural infrastructure planning/development/management and excellent desktop research skills to fill knowledge gaps
- Excellent technical writing skills (mandatory)
- Excellent English language skills (mandatory)
- Proficient in use of computer software (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, etc) to produce professional looking documents of international standards
- Able to work with a multi-disciplinary multi-cultural team
- Able to deliver work within tight deadlines and handle heavier work pressure near deadlines
