FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION MANAGER - World Lung Foundation

Launched in 2004, World Lung Foundation (WLF) is an emerging leader in global public health. Established in response to the epidemic of lung disease, which kills 10 million each year, lung health remains our signature issue. However we have also expanded to take on some of the biggest “winnable battles” in public health - global killers that take a huge toll, yet can be prevented with tools on hand. We work in tobacco control, maternal health, road safety, obesity prevention and more, mostly in the low-and middle-income countries where these issues hit the hardest. Learn more about our work at worldlungfoundation.org.

Since 2008, the World Lung Foundation (WLF) has contributed to the Government of Tanzania’s efforts to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality by improving women’s access to good-quality comprehensive emergency obstetric and neonatal care (CEmONC) through its Tanzania maternal health project.

The project works in three regions (Kigoma, Morogoro and Pwani) supporting 15 health facilities to bring quality CEmONC services to rural, isolated populations. WLF upgrades health centers, strengthens hospitals, trains and mentors assistant medical officers to provide emergency obstetric care including cesarean sections and nurse-midwives/clinical officers to provide anesthesia. The project is now adding a referral component which will contribute to increasing women’s access to CEmONC services in Kigoma.
