HEAD-CONSTRUCTION AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT

 The Position:
Reporting to the Director Mortgage, the Head-Construction and Project Management will be responsible for the management and advancement of Banks real estate development strategy and implementation of affordable housing development projects.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the housing market and housing needs in Kenya, track trends and key developments and identify issues and priorities for the Bank’s action and intervention. Maintain a detailed knowledge of demographic, economic and social changes in Kenya.
  • Lead on the development of a strong business approach to land and other assets for the development of housing and related schemes.
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of investment models for housing and develop innovative options for delivery of affordable housing.
  • Drive forward the development of an ambitious and innovative Affordable Housing Strategy in partnership with key partners to most effectively meet housing needs and bring benefit to the Bank.
  • Develop effective and dynamic relationship with key partnerships and other organizations to deliver new affordable housing. Maintain a high level strategic relationship with the Government, Counties and other organizations to assist with the delivery of KCB Housing Strategy.
  • Manage a portfolio of projects including development and maintaining the project timetables.
  • Lead and develop an effective, competent and highly motivated team through communication, performance management, development plans and reward/recognition practices.
The Person:
  • For the above position, the successful applicant should have the following:
  • A bachelor’s degree in a Quantity Surveying, Building Economics, Construction Management or related degree from a recognized university.
  • An MBA, MA, or MSc from a recognized university
  • Professional Qualifications would be an added advantage.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in general banking with 4 years in Senior Management, which should include:
    • 5 years’ experience in project management, including management and prioritizing of multiple tasks
    • Program management of affordable housing development, financing, feasibility analysis, real estate development.
    • Knowledge of business practices and finance methods, procedures, practices of housing development.
    • Demonstrates ability to analyze situations accurately and effective course of action.
  • A thorough knowledge of Mortgage Banking products and services, and extensive Banking Industry knowledge.
  • Excellent high quality interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills with the ability to network and develop strong business relations
  • A good understanding of risk, credit policies and procedures.
  • Strong leadership skills with demonstrated competences in championing high performance management.
  • Excellent planning, organization, problem solving and analytical skills.
