JOB TITLE: PROGRAMMING & TRAINING SPECIALIST (PTS)-EDUCATION

About the Programming & Training Specialist Position: The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the planning, development, implementation and administration of- Peace Corps Tanzania's
Education projects, for ensuring the integration of programming 'plans with the training of Volunteers throughout their service. This includes taking the lead in coordinating the delivery of Secondary Education technical training, including practice teaching, and aU components thereof, such as developing schemes of work and lesson plans, classroom management, collaboration youth school staff and augmenting skills and resources, secondary/after school activities, etc, Travels throughout Tanzania will be required. The incumbent will work closely with a second PTS-Education, sharing the work in a collegial manner, and supporting two Associate Peace Corps Directors for Education. These four incumbents make up the permanent education team for Peace Corps Tanzania. The position is based in Dar es Salaam and reports to. the Director of Programming and Training. The work hours are Monday through Thursday, 7:30am to 5:00
pm, and Friday 7:30am to 11 :30 pm, with additional hours planned during training periods. Incumbent is a Peace Corps Tanzania senior staff member, and serves as duty officer for one week every approximately 3 months, including carrying the duty phone 2417 during that period.

Position Elements

Education Technical Training -
Serve together with co-incumbent as Education project technical training coordinator for 11 week Pre-Service Training, responsible for collaborating with Training Team to. develop session plans, identify resource people and organizations to assist with training, and facilitate sessions for 60+ new American volunteers. Take part in planning and deliver as necessary in-service training sessions.

Project and Program Support
Assist Associate Peace Corps Directors for Education with identification
and preparation of volunteer sites, liaising with government and NGO partners, and developing and maintaining accurate project and program documentation.

Administrative and Volunteer Support
Assist Program Managers to conduct volunteer site visits and maintain correspondence and communication with volunteers and collaborating partners.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in education, with focus in Math, or Science.
• A thorough and up-to-date knowledge of Tanzanian education system, relevant ministries, programs, policies, and resources both in mainland Tanzania as well as Zanzibar.
• Four years progressively responsible experience. in the field of education at ordinary and advanced levels, including teaching experience.
• Knowledge of adult' education techniques, gender analysis, community analysis and. project management.
• Language: Level IV (Fluent) spoken and written English and Kiswahili.
• Abilities: Ability to work on a team and maintain good working relationships with Peace Corps staff (U.S and Tanzanian) and Volunteers. Ability to develop lesson plans and facilitate training classes and workshops. Ability to develop and maintain mid-level contacts within the host government, international aid agencies, and private sector. Ability to plan, organize and execute specific projects within the project and to prepare analytical reports. Ability to render advice employing sound judgment within Peace Corps guidelines. Ability to use Microsoft Office (including MSWord, Excel and Powerpoint) required. Ability to pass US Embassy background security check .

JOB TITLE: ASSOCIATE PEACE CORPS DIRECTOR (APCD) - EDUCATION

About the APCD Position
The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, developing, implementing and administering Peace Corps Tanzania's Secondary Education project, working in partnership with one other APCD and supported by a Programming and Training Specialist. Travel throughout Tanzania will be required. The position reports to the Director of Programming and
Training, and is based in Dar es salaam. Normal working days are Monday through Friday 7:30am to 5:00pm, and Friday 7:30am to 11 :30am. Additional hours are expected during travel and training periods. The position requires serving as Peace Corps Tanzania duty officer approximately once every three months, carrying and responding to an emergency phone for one week.

Position Elements
The Incumbent will have primary responsibility to collaborate with the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training in providing Volunteer teachers to secondary schools, by identifying and preparing sites at secondary schools for volunteer teachers in math, science, and English; training Volunteers to serve; providing professional orientation for host Heads of School and District officials; and providing emotional and technical support to Volunteers during service. Sites are located in many regions of the Tanzania mainland as well as Zanzibar. This position involves a three-month probationary period after which a Personal Services Contract will be considered.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Education (specialization any math, science or English language field, or field related to education policy and administration). Masters degree preferred.
• Four years progressively responsible experience, including supervisory experience, in the field of education; and/or four years teaching/training adults in education or related area.
• Experience with program management, including strategic planning financial and budget management.
• Experience developing and monitoring, reporting and evaluating education activities.
• Experience in design and facilitation' of training events and developing materials, with emphasis on training teachers.
• A thorough and up-to-date knowledge of Tanzanian education system, relevant ministries, programs, policies, and resources both in mainland Tanzania as well as Zanzibar.
• Knowledge of adult education techniques, gender analysis, community analysis and project management.
• Demonstrated skills in coaching, including the ability to positively motivate adults. Must have well developed listening ability and a sensitive yet pragmatic and realistic manner.
• Demonstrated knowledge of and appreciation for community-based training, design and implementation.
• Language: Level IV (Fluent) spoken and written English and Kiswahili.
• Ability to work on a team and maintain good working relationships with Peace Corps staff (U.S. and Tanzanian) and Volunteers.

JOB TITLE: TRAINING RESOURCE AND LOGISTICS COORDINATOR

About the TRL Coordinator:

The Coordinator is a mid-level professional, and works in a fast paced cross cultural environment with American Volunteers of all ages, and in collegial relationship with other Tanzanian and American members of the Peace Corps Tanzania Senior Staff. The candidate must be a detail-oriented people person who has demonstrated maturity and the ability to think ahead and follow through independently.

The incumbent is based in Dar es Salaam, reports to the Training Manager and works closely with the' Master
Trainer and other part time technical and language trainers' to deliver a .quality spectrum of training for Volunteers and staff. In preparation for and during two 10-week pre-service training periods annually, the incumbent spends large periods of time coordinating training events at the Pre-Service Training site, outside Dar, often in village settings with few amenities.
Separate In-Service Training events will also require travel. Likewise, he or she must be prepared to serve as a model to Volunteers for the skills, knowledge and attitudes necessary to thrive while living and working in rural Tanzania. The incumbent will be responsible with other Training team members for coordinating the acquisition, storage and movement of resources which augment training, as well as Volunteer and staff service, and for ensuring that program managers are included In planning and implementation of training events for their Volunteers. The work hours are Monday through Thursday 7:30am to 5:00pm, and Friday 7:30am to 11:30am, with substantial additional time planned during training. events.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Long- and short- term training logistics coordination
• Information resource centre and inventory management
• Records management and data entry
• Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the Training Manager or designee
• Assume other duties necessary for the smooth running of the training program as assigned by the Director of Programming and Training or designee
• Supporting safety and security of Volunteers and serving as duty officer for one week approximately every three months

Desired Qualifications
• A degree/diploma in Business Administration, Community Development or Education; higher level degree preferable
• At least two years of experience in office management and/or logistics
• Must possess strong computer application skills, especially in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access
• Experience in teaching Kiswahili to foreigners (preferably Americans). will be an added advantage
• Language: Must be completely fluent in both spoken and written Swahili and English.
• Ability to pass US Embassy background security check.
