Magu Poverty Focus on Older People Rehabilitation Center(MAPERECE) is non-profit, non-governmental organization (NGO) whose mission is to mobilize and sensitize the public to discard harmful traditional beliefs and values that contribute to the killing of older people particularly older women in the community alleged as witchcraft. We do this through creating awareness and education among the community, establishment of older people forums, lobbying and advocacy of leaders and policy makers on a variety of issues that affect older people.”
MAPERECE is largely supported by international and National donors, implementing several programmes including rights, health, HIV/AIDS, Malaria, social accountability, and social protection projects
MAPERECE is therefore seeking to recruit a highly qualified, experienced and motivated individual for the following position based in Magu district.
POSITION: PROJECT COORDINATOR
REPORTS TO: THE ORGANISATION CHAIRPERSON
DUTY STATION : MAGU DISTRICT
JOB OBJECTIVES:
Direct strategic technical assistant to the project and other implementing partners and beneficiaries under technical support of the programme manager- within MAPERECE team.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:-
To coordinate the project implementation based on the agreed timeframe and resources allocated for the implementation of each activity.
To provide technical support to community volunteers such as older women spokespersons, paralegals and other volunteers named in the project proposal ensuring they receive appropriate training and follow-up support
Ensure relevant data to support reporting and monitoring of the project activities are collected, analyzed and reported accordingly.
Collect, harmonize and share information on the project best practices and lessons learnt in the project area
Manage the project budget in connection with the outlined work plan and periodic transfer given
Ensure timely implementation and reporting of activities as per agreed work plan
Organize and participate in events involving HelpAge International audiences that enable to profile the rights of older women
Participate in the activities of HelpAge International in Tanzania including participating in national forums as required
Represent MAPERECE and the Project in forums that are linked to gender, human rights and women’s rights
Work with other partners and stakeholders in Magu to facilitate the collection and documentation of project information.
Work with project teams to understand and assist with tracking all work, task and project assignments.
Maintain all records and files relating to programme reports and financial statements
Contribute to MAPERECE’s annual planning and reporting processes
pLiaise with HAI’s Tanzania programme and finance units on overall programme and Finance related matters
Undertake any additional duties as requested by MAPERECE’s management
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE
Ability to mobilise and train community volunteers that can lead the project implementation
Able to relate and interact with senior government officials within the district, region and at national level.
Ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of stakeholders
Experience of closely working with the media for public awareness
Experience on the use of computer packages such as Word, Access, Excel and others.
Ability to manage self, managing emotions and respect for others
Fluency in Kiswahili and English including writing skills in both languages
Ability to work under pressure and to short deadlines
Ability to prioritize and work to deadlines
Desirable:
Demonstrable interest in ageing issues
Demonstrable work experience across disciplines
Education/Qualifications/Knowledge:
At least Degree level education preferably in social sciences.
Minimum 3 years working experience in the NGOs community development related field
