INTERNATIONAL TREASURER AT AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL (AI)

INTERNATIONAL TREASURER
Amnesty International is a global movement of more than seven million people who campaign for a world where human rights are enjoyed by all. Our aim is simple: an end to human rights abuses. Whether we're applying pressure through powerful research or direct lobbying, mass demonstrations or online campaigning, we're all inspired by hope for a better world, where human rights are respected and protected by everyone, everywhere.

THE ROLE

Amnesty International is looking for exceptional individuals who have a track record of financial oversight and stewardship in an international context, and who share our passion for human rights, to stand for election as the movement’s International Treasurer for the period August 2015 - August 2019. In addition to the specific responsibilities of the post, the International Treasurer will assist in the work of Amnesty International to strengthen its governance function at a time of international restructuring. The position will require attendance at the International Board meetings (4 weekends a year) as well as attendance at the Finance and Audit Committee meetings (4 times a year). About half of the meetings are conducted through video conference. Participation in other task groups and/or sub-committees and some travel will be required. This position is entirely voluntary and is not remunerated. All reasonable expenses incurred related to Board work will be reimbursed, according to AI’s expenses policy.
