On behalf of Ministry of Constitutional and Legal Affairs, Public Service Recruitment Secretariat invites qualified Tanzanians to fill 6 vacant posts in the above Public

Institution.

1.0 MINISTRY OF CONSTITUTIONAL AND LEGAL AFFAIRS

The Law Reform Commission of Tanzania is established under Cap 171 of the Laws of the United Republic. Its main function is to take and keep under review all laws of the United Republic of Tanzania with a view to its systematic development and reform.

1.1 COMMISSIONER – 2 POSTS (FULL TIME)

1.1.1    REPORTS TO CHAIRPERSON OF THE LAW REFORM COMMISSION OF TANZANIA

1.1.2  DUTY STATION: DAR ES SALAAM

1.1.3  DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Participate as members of the Commission in the formulation and implementation of major policy decisions of the Commission.

·         Direct, supervise and oversee the functions of the Commission.

·         Assist the Chairperson to discharge the functions of the Commission.

·         Carry out any other duties that may be assigned to him by the Chairperson.


1.1.4 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

·         Bachelor Degree in Law

·         Hold or has previously held a high judicial office in the United Republic for not less than five years; or

·         Enrolled as an advocate in the United Republic of Tanzania and has practiced in the High Court not less than five years and eligible for appointment to the Court of Appeal of Tanzania; or

·         Teaching experience in law at the University level or other Institution of equivalent for not less than five years; or

·         A person with special qualifications, training or experience in the social, economic or political affairs of Tanzania;

·         Strong commitment in legal research and reforms;

·         Good command of both English and Swahili languages.


1.1.4 DURATION

·         The Commissioners will serve for three years. The contract is renewable.

NB: GENERAL CONDITIONS

i.      All applicants must be Citizens of Tanzania.

-    Form IV and Form VI National Examination Certificates.

-    Computer Certificate

-    Professional certificates from respective boards

-    One recent passport size picture and birth certificate.

vi.   FORM IV AND FORM VI RESULTS SLIPS ARE STRICTLY NOT ACCEPTED

vii.  Testimonials, Partial transcripts and results slips will not be accepted.

viii. Presentation of forged academic certificates and other information in the CV will necessitate to legal action

ix.     Applicants currently employed in the public service should route their application letters through their respective employers.

x.     Applicants who have/were retired from the Public Service for whatever reason should not apply.

xi.   Applicants should indicate three reputable referees with their reliable contacts.



xii.  Certificates from foreign examination bodies for ordinary or advanced level education should be certified by The National Examination Council of Tanzania (NECTA)

xiii. Certificates from foreign Universities should be verified by The Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU)

xiv.   Deadline for application is 16th June, 2015 at 3:30 p.m.

xv.  Applicants with special needs/case (disability) are encouraged to apply and are supposed to indicate in their application letter.

xvi.   Women are highly encouraged to apply

xvii.   Only short listed candidates will be informed on a date for interview

xviii.              Application letters should be written in Swahili or English
